After a year of lockdowns, we all feel what it is like to be trapped. But now with the vaccine and Covid numbers shrinking we are starting to declare our freedom from the virus in 2021! Two hundred years ago Greece declared its freedom from the Ottoman Empire on March 25, 1821. With the cry of “Freedom or Death!” the heroes of the Greek Independence movement started a chain reaction that would reverberate throughout Eastern Europe and the Middle East, shaping our modern world.

To commemorate this historic event, monuments throughout the world are being lit up blue and white in honor of Greece’s victory. Here we see San Jose’s iconic City Hall illuminated for the celebration! The capitol of Silicon Valley and the gateway to the future, honoring the founders of Western Civilization

Happy Birthday Greece! You earned it!
