INGREDIENTS

2 cups self rising flour
1 stick of butter, softened (4oz)
1/4 cup bakers sugar
1/4 cup sultanas (or raisins)
2 pinches salt
1/3 cup or 100 ml milk (plus more for basting)

DIRECTIONS

Preheat your oven to 420 degrees Fahrenheit.

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour and salt. Slice in the butter and mix.

  2. Add the sugar and sultanas. Mix.

  3. Pour in the milk slowly until it starts to clump. Too much milk will ruin the dough, so go slowly.

  4. Take your dough out of the mixer and put onto a floured surface. Make a long skinny loaf that measures about 1-2” wide and tall, and about 12-15” long.

  5. Pinch off pieces that are about an inch big and transfer to a baking sheet.

  6. Baste with milk.

  7. Bake at 420 degrees for about 12-15 minutes until golden.

  8. Serve immediately with butter and jam. Enjoy!
